Spice and Wolf’s OP. (or is it Wolf and Spice?) Try it for yourself, as long as your computer and screen can handle it, the quality is superb. Wonder if it’s 1080p or 720p.

This is indeed great for Previews, Openings, FMV and such. However, not sure how the full anime selection is over there. It’s been a while since I’ve been informed of their policy towards fansubs, as the quality was so bad that I didn’t care.

BTW add this bit of code at the end of youtube URLs to unleash the HD: &fmt=22 (The source video needs to be in HD too) I knew you could bump the video quality with some of these codes but this one is dope!

Urlesque shares these pictures of the cooking instructions at Japanese chain restaurant Kuro-Hitsuji, which specializes in Mongolian barbecue—or as the restaurant says, “Ghengis Khan cuisine.” The instructions features illustrations accompanied by “ghetto-fabulous” English translations for no apparent reason. Next time I get Mongolian barbecue, I’ll be sure to cook my meal using the “fizzle to the sizzle” method.

bissexual class reps and mecha constructors

This episode was done in style of Saynonara Zetsubou Sensei, it was split into two parts, each concentrating on one crazy girl from the class.

The first girl: Andou Nene was serious lols provider. Starting from how absurd it is for somebody dressed like being the class rep and attempting to control how others should dress to school (especially since school requires students to dress according to the rules, except that nobody cared to actually create those rules in the first place :D)

She takes bribes

Is a pervert.

Her dream is becoming the students’ rep for the whole school, mostly so she can shorten the length of girls’ skirts by 5cm

Och and she’s a bisexual

She’s a riot and blast to watch.

By comparison Chle was much less entertaining, she’s typical lab geek who specializes in constructing robots. 

Her plot thread however delivered the funniest scene Hyakko had so far.

MECHA TORAKO!!!

That scene seriously floored me Not only did Torako made the primitive robot who was supposed to fool teacher in believing she’s present in the classroom, but also she programed it to answer with “No. I do not know” to every question teacher might have.

And Suzume remains solid provider of laughs.

Yet another good Hyakko ep overall , Mechatorako alone was worth watching the whole episode for And thank God this time there were no horrible quality jumps in animation like in ep2.

This bra does not fit at all. Altough I’m glad she did.

Kannagi’s episode 06, it deserves its own post, it made me feel something I’ve never experienced before; pleasant embarrassment. At first it seems like a contradiction in terms but it’s true. It embarrassed me to no end, but, I’m glad it did.

Those who witnessed the bra purchasing and the sexual intimidation surely know what I’m talking about. What I wanted to bring to your attention though is the clothes the characters wore this episode. Oh this is so odd and so unmanly. A woman must have written this show; they managed a whole episode about clothes.

I liked Takako’s red jacket and pants but nothing beats Tsugumi’s maid outfit, shamelessly brandishing her C-cup like it were nobody’s business. I am glad she did and it fits her figure well.

Bah, enough crazy babbling, on to the pictures!

First, let’s talk about the season a bit. The season is GREAT; Barack Obama is in office, the anime is glorious, my first semester in University has been amazing, the Ottawa Senators are out of their slump.  I’m in a great mood and I’ve been enjoying the anime season but I somehow can’t get a blogging going on.

There’s a good reason for this relative slump in posting frequency; almost none of the new anime suits my posting style! Aside Michiko to Hatchin and the early Nodame Cantabile, I haven’t been able to unleash grandiose art/philosophy critiques. Last season, Code Geass left a lot of space for critique and interpretation, this season though, things have been a little rough. To fix that, I’m going to break things up and show my appreciation of most shows currently airing, starting with Kannagi.

Kannagi: Hilarious, charming and pleasing to the eye. Love the characters and their development, particularly, the way each of them possesses multiple personalities, motivations and attitudes. It creates what comes close to the breath and complexity of true human relations. I know this is an unrealistic story about Gods and exaggerated interpersonal conveniences (Harems) but bear with me. True Tears, Kurenai and Kannagi all capture different truths of life and relationships. True Tears represented the suffocating effects of resentment, tradition, miscommunication and romantic unease/confusion. Kurenai emphasized on how common cause, experiences and feelings can bring people closely together without the need for deep tradition. Kannagi, isolates the complexity/duality of our interests when it comes to interpersonal relationships.

I don’t know about you but I LOVE this stuff.You almost never see this sort of wisdom on american TV. The scope of human emotion represented on the western tube is much too limited. All in all, Kannagi rocks, definitely the rosy-ass show that I fell in love with this season. I can’t help it, don’t try to save me.

smile my little gremlin, smile!

While previous episode had some development of Taiga’s romantic interest, this episode shifts focus to Minorin.

It turns out she’s not just insanely (yes, insanely) energetic and cheerful, but she also completely fills her time with various activities and part time jobs. 

This of course foreshadows that something is wrong in her life.

But despite the plot focusing on that, it’s once again Taiga who steals the show.

Animators are drawing her more and more in a caricatured way…

And it works wonderfully. She’s like an ultra cute animal that you know will bite your finger off if you try to pat it’s head.

And it’s just so much fun to watch.

Really, really fun to watch A lot more than typical super deformed forms.

And is it me or did this shot of Taiga looked like something Todd McFarlane would draw?

Predictably Taiga’s abuse of Ryuuji has started for good However it’s not as annoying as in…say..Zero no Tsukaima. Taiga doesn’t have superhuman strength, so the only way she can damage the poor guy is by attacking his eyes And even that isn’t overdone, not to mention Ryuuji didn’t turn into punching bag and can still stand up to Taiga, so overall the abuse is funny, not annoyingly cliche.

You’re doing it wrong little Tiger!

When she did deliveries dragging the bike down the road (because she doesn’t posses this ancient skill of riding a bike)…that was not just hilarious to watch, but also showed how stubborn she is in a very effective and funny way.

Plus she does seem to slowly starting to get jealous of Ryuuji. And I have a feeling that as soon as it turns on for good the show will become truly epic

Now, the butt grabbing scene was just weird :]

It was another solid episode for Toradora!. The show continues it’s slow development of characters wrapped up in a a very funny comedy package.

At the end of last episode Midorikawa got message from Kuroda stating he’s quitting. This episode actually begins before this happened. Kuroda is growing tired of whiny clients and performing small magic.

He asks Asagi out on something that looks like a date.

They stroll through the old shopping mall

Of course Kuroda, fool that he is instead of seizing the opportunity and treating it as a date starts to voice out his complains and doubts.

He is just a teenager afterall, a teenager who was given huge power and responsibility, who’s now getting disappointed that the reality doesn’t seem to be living up to what he imagined being a mage would be.

Instead of not letting Barlogs pass, he has to fix up watches and broken wases. He wants something more epic and as a typical teenager, he’s not willing to wait. Asagi, the one who seemed more arrogant out of two surprisingly is appreciating any kind of magic and she doesn’t react to kindly to Kuroda’s whining. Since Kuroda didn’t find understanding then does something very immature and rash: he decides to quit. And it’s up to his friends to change his mind

Unfortunately the usual helping spirit; Sora is down from the cold and the rest of the “team” have to do without her.

The “intervention” scene was just great.

Midorikawa is the first one to try. He definitely changed in a subtle way since the beginning of the show (in large part I suspect because he can actually perform magic now, even if a small one). He appreciates the opportunity life gave to him. At the same time he understands the doubts Kuroda has and he doesn’t want to pressure him. His “Life is long speech” gets interrupted though

It seems pressure was exactly what Kuroda needed.

And Asagi was more than willing to provide it, bashing the hell out of him

and it worked well

Mission accomplished

In reality it’s obvious Kuroda didn’t want to quit, he just made a stupid decision and then was too embarrassed to admit it was wrong.
Now he has good excuse to and it seems like he will seize this opportunity. I did like how there wasn’t a big scene of him admitting his mistakes, instead as everything in this show it’s handled in much more realistic way

Good work intervention squad!

And we even got a new song this episode, great as always. I really do need the soundtrack from this show ASAP!!!

This was a nice episode, the characters once again proved to be believable psychologically (which is something rarely seen in anime about teenagers) and it seems this show is intent on just showing us a small slice out of young mages life, not attempting anything more, but at the same time delivering in spades on what it aims at.

This episode follows the same pattern as the previous one: take a small mundane activity, then twist it and inject with enough craziness to fill the whole episode. In episode 1 the girls were looking for their classroom, this time it’s about finding the right school club. This school being so big has countless clubs (it’s obvious in Japan, here in Poland there are no clubs at all in most schools ) and girls decide (or to me more precise Torako decides, Suzume and Ayumi follow and Tatsuki is dragged into it ) to try them out to see which one fits them

It starts with baseball, where Tatsuki and Torako start to compete against each other…

Torako knocks out Tatsuki and then gets beaten by her.

It repeats in Tennis.

and I loved the melodramatic shots of Tatsuki :D, so much that here’s another one:

same with basketball and it’s the funniest club activity

Tatsuki’s spoiling Torako’s shot was hilarious !

Oh and Suzume FTW!

There’s also other clubs including calligraphy and soccer ones.

And that’s it. Nothing more happened in this episode, but let’s be honest… nobody is expecting any real plot from Hyakko Episode 2 provided plenty of fun and some good laughs. Torako and Tatsuki continue to be hilarious to watch, Suzume rarely does anything, but when she does it’s pure win! Ayumi by comparison continues to be pretty bland, especially when put against other three girls.
The bad? I didn’t find the Tatsuki’s counting how many time Torako ignored her to be funny, the same with Torako’s team naming joke, fortunately besides those two jokes the rest was funny.

The animation however was pretty uneven, I didn’t expect it to keep up the quality from first ep and most of the time it was nice in episode 2, but in the first half of this ep we sometimes got nightmares like this:

what the hell…

Overall an enjoyable and fun episode, a line  I expect to be using often when finishing entries for Hyakko episodes
