Conan O’Brien dubs Ghost In The Shell

Conan O’Brien visited, relative to Universal Studios, nearby anime dubbing studio Bang Zoom to see how anime is dubbed. Needless to say Conan loves to dub cartoons and showed his passion for such at the studio, along with sidekick Andy Richter.

I don’t know this guy to be honest, however this post on White Album makes me guarantee he’s worthy of the SBP.

As you may have noticed, Browning’s book made another appearance in episode 2. In the first episode, the book represented in some sense Misaki’s interest in Touya. Touya didn’t have interest in the book (Misaki’s feelings by extension) and tried to pass it on to Akira, who refused it, even though he had interest in the literary content of it. I had no expectations on White Album going into it but the OP convinced me I wasn’t looking at something cheap like Akikan. The images and animation is very crisp and pretty at 720p, the music is polished without being too exuberant. Great first impression.

A collective sigh of relief please. Best wishes to a great artist.

Tytania, anime, philosophy »

I watched Tytania episode 7 (I think) and that zheng-long guy I think he’s named. They were all like “OMG, he has a doctorate in Philosophy!” That felt really odd to me. First, he talked in entirely unphilosophical terms, second, the Philosophy PhD is usually looked down upon in general society. It’s even more odd coming from a band of pirates.
I wouldn’t mind living in a world where a Philosophy doctorate meant you were considered wise or even remotely useful and worth listening to. Being a philosophy student and all. …
