This season keeps hitting hard, if you’re not watching anime, I really don’t know wtf you’re doing with your life, I really don’t. Michiko to Hatchin; surprisingly delicious.

Where to start? I loved everything about that first episode, truly a masterpiece. I could talk about the slow culmination of emotions as we watch Hana being treated like a slave, I could talk about the glorious contrast of religious alienation and colorful liberty, I could talk about the opening that could have belonged in a Katamari Damacy game. I won’t talk about those that much though, I’m just going to say it was AWESOME.

SMASH HER TEETHS OUT, STOMP HIS HEAD IN THE GROUND! That’s what I was yelling while Maria and her little brother were riding Hatchi like a cat. I really bought into it. The way those damn brats were grinning, hell, every ounce of their bodies are specially crafted from the worst traits of character conceivable.

OH THAT STINKIN PADRE, he intentionally spilled his breakfast on the ground and asked some more, with a straight face!

Glorious! every minute of it was glorious. I can’t stress enough the cinematographic excellence of this first episode. It was wonderfully animated from beginning to end, there were no junk frames at all. Every pose, every facial expression seems genuine and thoughtfully concocted.

Just watch it dammit, see for yourself if you haven’t already. It’s worth it even just for Michiko’s madness.

Dude, you need to go outside more often. ;)

In any case, it was a nice first episode, though the whole Hana-abuse was just too extreme and one-sided to me.

Well Michiko did land a scooter on their kitchen table…

About this “outside”, what is there to see?

Not surprising, it’s manglobe. They are incapable of making a bad show.

I agree with psgels. The Hana-abuse got so tiresome that I skipped ahead. But now that she’s out of that house maybe we’ve seen the last of that stuff. And the art and animation do look interesting.

I have to watch this now.

Too bad I was watching Dexter. :/

Michael, you’re excused. Dexter’s awesomeness transcends all boundaries :)

Promissing show from Manglobe. It’s weird read all the portuguese language signs (I’m in Brazil) in a typical mexican/latin enviro. Michiko looks like a blend of brazillian woman with lots of JLo. Hope they keep the high standards for animation, art direction and sound/music from the previous shows.

Hrmm, seems like it’s like me with Nodame Cantabile in France.

But you gotta give Japan a chance, it’s not often that anime happens outside of Japan.
