Blade of the Immortal 02

Of course the main chick didn’t just get killed in the first episode!

In the first episode we saw the death of Manji’s sister, which I admittedly didn’t want to see happening that soon. In any case, it’s good to see in this episode that she wasn’t the main girl in the storyline. Episode 2 introduces us to Asano Rin, the sole survivor of an Itto-ryuu massacre who seeks Manji’s help - which this episode focuses on.

The massacre traces back to an event that happened fifty years prior. Anotsu Saburou and Asano Takayuki both competed for the secret of the Mutenichi-ryuu, which was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Here’s where you may get torn as to who’s side to take - Saburou killed more than Takayuki, but got expelled for using a second sword, and a foreign one at that. That’s understandable maybe, but in doing so he saved his master’s life. I could never expel a student in that situation.

In any case, the guy got expelled and his grandson is pissed. So in declaration of embarking on a conquest he decides to massacre the dojo, killing the Asano family with the exception of Rin. Oh and Rin’s mom gets an ice-truck-killer-meets-fullmetal-alchemist style death. I can get off to a great many things, but mutilating then raping a milf is just wrong…

…which incidentally makes this anime so, so awesome.

    Brutally awesome!

It’s true that the animation and overall production quality are somewhat sub-par but it doesn’t drag the show down as much as I thought it would.
