Kanokon comes to it’s end with this episode.

Kouta didn’t have a chance to answer Chizuru’s question from last episode because Tayura interrupted him

The poor guy had his moment of glory in this episode though.

Akane as way of thanking him for saving her in last episode agreed to go on date with him.

Whatever it was it sure did leave a lasting impression on Akane.

The date still happened though, so Happy End for Tayura

But Tayura offered merely a side plot, this episode was mostly about Kouta and Chizuru. Which I really appreciated. I thought they would go back to the more serious action plot which would suck for series finale.

The bulk of the action consisted of Kouta’s attempts to express his feelings to Chiziru and Chizuru growing more and more impatient

I enjoyed how the writers didn’t try to force a dilemma onto Kouta like so many other shows of this type do. We’ve already seen enough proof of who he likes through the series and now attempting to make him wonder about it would feel artificial. Instead of choice being a final obstacle in the series, here it’s Kouta’s shyness that the “final boss” of Kanokon

Chizuru is a girl of action, so when Kouta fails again and again (most of the time interrupted by 3rd party) she takes matter in her own hands.

Step 1:Remove the obstacles.

Step 3: Corner the victim

Step 3: Rape him

Just like I’ve said she took matters “into her own hands”

Unfortunately Kouta denied himself the chance of experiencing being raped

Poor Chiziru

He does make up for his mistake by finally confessing.

Since Chiziru is the one who Kouta loves, Nozomu decided she will be satisfied with being his mistress

And the best thing about it? Chizuru has no problems with it

Overall a fitting and satisfying conclusion to the series, I especially liked how they just concentrated on gags and Kouta/Chizuru relationship instead of trying to close up the more serious plot.

FINAL THOUGHS: I really had a blast with this show. The first episode didn’t prepare me for the amount of pure unfiltered awesomeness Kanokon delivered. Every time XEBEC did something outrageous I though “will they be able to top that?!” and the answer always was “YES! OF COURSE THEY WILL!”.

At the same time the show was pure comedy. All the ecchi and fanservice stuff was used purely for comedic effect and with amazing results. Instead of feeling uncomfortable like in many other shows I was laughing till my stomach started to hurt.

The introduction of plot, a moment that kills many similar shows was done well here, it merely made the show stumble a little instead of falling on it’s face like so many of it’s predecessors did.

The show never got stale and never felt like it was overstaying it’s welcome. For 12 weeks Kanokon delivered quality entertainment, with plenty of fun, laugh and “awww” moments. Kanokon knew well what it’s strengths was, it never took itself seriously and the plot was reduced to necessary minimum. All that shown through surprisingly high quality and consistent animation. I believe Kanokon set a golden standard, by which all ecchi shows will be judged in future.

Now we can only hope for second season and wait for Seven Seas to release English translations of the original light novels.
